BLOW OFF SOME STEAM BY JOINING UPNC ON WEDNESDAY NIGHTS FOR OUR SOCIALS
“Welcome to UPNC and the best group of gals you could ever ask for!
​It is a well-known fact that UPNC loves a good night out and can party hard! This netball club is not just about playing the game, it is about making lifelong friends and being part of a family.
Every fortnight there will be a themed social for everyone to get dressed up and have a fab time together! There are a whole range of themes such as tight and bright, pub golf and LBD. We also have joint socials with other clubs which are always great fun! Every fresher will have an older girl to look over them both on and off the court, so don’t be worried about not knowing anyone!
We start the night at a variety of different places, including UPSU and Fresher and Professor, and here all of our girls take on challenges to get everybody in the mood. We then head to different bars, ending the night in Walkabout where we dance the night away! Being part of the netball club has been the highlight of University for us and we hope this will be the same for you! So, make sure you sign up to join you won’t regret it!"

Alongside playing either competitively or socially within the club, UPNC offers a variety of socials for those of you who want to blow off steam after matches or girls who just want to be a part of UPNC socially! Our first social, organised by our wonderful Social Secretaries, Emily and Ellie, was Around the World Welcome Drinks, whereby the old girls were allocated a single country and assigned a UPNC family. From there we dressed up to the nines in exotic costumes based around everything to do with our country. Our outfits ranged from pizza hats of Italy to sombreros of Mexico, from Bierkeller girls of Germany, to the Reggae Reggae of Jamaica! Our other socials have included a Smurf social; where we covered oursleves in blue, Pub Golf; visiting all of our favurite sponsors to down the perfect hole-in-one pint, the glitter social; some girls went full out covered in glitter, even in their hair, Britney Spears welcome drinks; welcoming our freshers into UPNC, kit socials; cladding us up in as much netball kit as possible, joint socials such as the UPNC/UPFC tight and bright boat party and UPNC/UPRFC cops and robbers social, and most importantly, the infamous varsity night out! Our socials are absolutely legendary and never to be missed! We also offer sober socials where UPNC can socialise outside of netball play and get to know the rest of the club better, such as Ice Skating at the Plymouth Pavillions during the winter season, and food nights at Boston Tea Party, one of our favourite club sponspors. So, join UPNC on a wednesay night for what is known as the best night of the University calender!
DINNER & DANCES
Every year, to celebrate the efforts of every girl within the club, UPNC puts on two large events, the first being our Christmas Extravaganza, whereby, at Boston Tea Party, we celebrated the success both within the club and within individuals who have shone so far within the year. Here, we had a buffet meal comprising of burgers and toasties and commenced with drinks, chatter and laughter to award a variety of our girls for their outstanding commitments and efforts within the club. Proceeding to Pryzm for the afterparty made the night one to remember and seeing the girls in their element throughout the whole night topped it all off.
Recently, we have just had our summer Dinner & Dance at the Crowne Plaza, which allows all us girls to wave goodbye to another unforgettable year and speculate upon all the memories we have made together. D&D gives the committee a chance to award certain girls in particular for their outstanding committment within the club and congratulate them for how far each and ever one of us has come over the past academic year. Awards for ‘Captains player’, ‘Players player’ and ‘Most Improved’ are all awarded to three girls from each team, and additional awards are awarded to Superleague girls or their efforts within playing socially, in particular the lifetime achievment award this year was given to none other than one of our Superleague girls Becky King, who is now known as Miss UPNC! You go girl! The food at this years D&D was exquisite with a varity of options available for all members of the club, and in traditional UPNC fashion, the night ended with a boogie in the disco, and then, once again, onto Pryzm!
As all our girls would say, being a part of UPNC has been unforgettable, both playing and then with the additional impact of the socials, these are just a chance to let our hair down and have the best time with our friends, and it will be incredibly exciting to see what this years Social Secretaries, Maya Rose and Sophie Hunter, plans are for next year!
