GRAINNE ROBERTS

Chair

"Hi girls! As the Chair of UPNC, my role is to lead our stellar committee in making sure your time with UPNC slots right into your University highlight reel! As a club, we will ensure you have killer stash to rep around campus, provide you with amazing opportunities to make lifetime friends and host some of the best socials the campus has ever seen (after all, our Social Secs last year, Ellie Batley and Emily Rickett, received the best Social Sec award last year from Walkabout Wednesdays!) My main role for Chair is to ensure that all UPNC girls, new and old, feel included in our huge family. Our charity partner this year, Papyrus, works across the country to prevent suicide in young people. Throughout the year, I look forward to starting these difficult conversations and breaking down stigmas within the mental health with all of our members, through our charity fundraising events or just over a cup of coffee. After all, being the largest female-only club on campus has the most amazing perk of always having someone who is always there to talk about anything! I thoroughly look forward to welcoming back our current members, and welcoming a new cohort of new members to the club. See you in freshers, Grainne x"

ELLIE BATLEY

Vice-Chair

"I have been a member of UPNC since I joined Plym Uni 2 years ago and have loved every second of it. Last year I was on committee as one of the Social Secs and had the best time planning socials and spending time with all the lovely gals in UPNC. This year I am fortunate enough to be Vice-Chair of this fabulous club. So, as Vice-Chair I will be there to help anyone who has any questions or problems that need answering/solving. I work with all aspects of the club and ensure everything runs smoothly. I want to ensure everyone has the best possible experience and enjoys being a part of UPNC. I look forward to welcoming new members to the club and seeing all the lovely old girls faces this coming year. I am very excited to see what 2018/19 brings for UPNC and I can’t wait to be a part of this year’s Committee and have the best year with all the lovely netball gals. Big loves, Ellie x"

HOLLIE LOWEN

Treasurer

"Being Treasurer of UPNC is such an exciting role for myself as it involves taking care of the clubs finances and ensuring we have plenty of money to run a fun, successful club. My aims over this next year are to not only ensure the club stays on top of this, but to develop a club that's bigger and better than ever, helping to carry on the title of 'UPSU's Sports Club of the Year'! I hope to be involved with all aspects of the club and witness success after success. Here's to the 2018-19 season! Hollie x"

BELL

1st Team Captain

"As First Team Captain I am so excited for the up and coming 2018/19 season of UPNC. The main part of my role is to ensure the smooth running of all teams throughout the season. My role will kick straight into action during freshers week when we will welcome many new members to the club with the intention of either trying something new or playing competitively. Whichever one it may be, myself and the committee hope to make their time in the club as enjoyable as possible and for those who want to play competitively we aim to get you to the highest standard of netball you can achieve. I hope to bring a lot to my role within my year as Captain, remaining organised, punctual and most importantly passionate about a sport I truly love. Netball has always been such a big part of my life at University and this upcoming year will be no different. Emily x"

VERITY

LEMM

2nd Team Captain

“My name is V Lemm and I’m UPNCs 2nd team captain for the 2018/19 season. Last year we had a cracking season gaining a promotion in BUCS thanks to the brilliant captaincy under Emily Ford. In the coming season I aim to not only succeed within our new division, but create more of a community for the girls. I want the girls to feel happy and healthy when attending netball events and encourage a support network throughout the club. I will be supporting the 1st Team Captain and the 3/4/5's Co-ordinator on the court, and I will also be encouraging the girls to get stuck into the charity work which is just as important in developing the club off the court. I’m looking forward to what the season will bring and hopefully my final year at Plymouth will be even bigger and better than my previous years. Love V x”

NATALIE

YEO

Superleague Co-ordinator

"Superleague is a huge and vital part of UPNC! It is a great place and opportunity to brush up and improve your netball skills if you’re a little rusty, don’t yet feel confident enough for teams or are a first time netballer. The internal league is run by us (Natalie and Natasha), second year girls who were part of superleague last year and are excited to plan fun and challenging drills and exercises. After you sign up at Freshers Fair, we will sort you into teams during our first training session, on the 29th September, based on your position and here we are flexible to make sure you are happy and feel comfortable with the girls within your team. The first few training sessions will be about bonding and getting to know the others, doing fun, team-bonding activities. You girls will then train on Saturdays from 12-2 to improve your skills as a team and as individuals. With the progress you make in training, you will be able to apply this in your matches on Sundays. We will set up a games schedule for Sundays once your teams are all sorted so you know exactly who you are playing at what time. These matches give you a chance to practice and improve your skills, work together as a team and most importantly of all, have a laugh! Superleague is also a great platform to showcase your netball skills in order to move on up to teams in the reshuffling after Christmas. Last year we had a few girls move up to the competitive teams when they were recognised for their fab skills and technique! So, if you were not that confident enough to trial, this is another way of getting into teams that gives you motivation to give your all at training and matches. Or, if you aren’t worried about the competitive side, then this internal league is the place to have some fun with you friends as well as being involved in this great sport! Superleague is a close and fun group of girls that are the heart and soul of UPNC. We will be at the freshers fair, so come and sign up to join this amazing club that will be a fab addition to your university experience!

Lots of love Nat & Nat x"

CASSIE

FAWCETT

Fundraising Secretary

"Holla, my name is Cassie and I am UPNC’s Fundraising Secretary. My aims are to get every single netballer involved in our charity fundraising events this year; whilst raising the most amount of money that UPNC have ever raised for our chosen charity. This year we will be supporting a very deserving and relevant charity- PAPYRUS. I will be organising and hosting classic events eg. The beloved Netball versus Rugby netball tournament and the not so popular Half Marathon... as well as introducing some new funky ideas to increase our fundraising total. Can’t wait to meet all of our new freshies and see the rest of my UPNC family come september. Cassie x"

RICKETT

Sponsorship Secretary

"My role in the Committee this year is Sponsorship Secretary, which means that I will be having meetings with different businesses around Plymouth to see if they would be interested in sponsoring our club for the year. This would involve them producing deals that members of the netball club can use or by them investing money in the club which can help us make it better for you all. My main goal this year is to get amazing deals for the club and for you girls individually by gaining sponsorship in places where people will actually visit on a weekly basis such as restaurants and bars, and hopefully hair/beauty salons. Also, I want to be able to up the money that the club gets given so that we can improve and grow! Em x"

"UPNC isn’t just a sports club. It’s a lifestyle. Everybodys knows Wednesday nights are the messiest nights at Uni and its our job to both make sure you feel comfortable and safe on our nights out as well as making sure you’ve forgotton it all by the morning! We are Sophie and Maya and will be your social secs. We have loads of themes planned such as Troll Drolls, Morning after the night before, and aliens, so right from the get-go of Freshers week we can all get stuck in to the legendary wednesday nights out! The socials aren't just about going to clubs, we also have lots sober and daytime socials organised. UPNC has some of the friendliest, fun loving girls you could ever meet and joing the club will be your best decision at uni! Lots of love, Sophie and Maya x"

GEORGIA

O'NEIL

Web & Promo Secretary

"I'm Georgia and this year I will be UPNC's Web & Promo Sec! My role is to represent the club online and on social media throughout the year, so you can all see what we get up to, what we have achieved and what we have in store in the future. I hope that through our social media sites such as Instagram I can represent the club so those on the outside of UPNC can see exactly what we are about. My biggest aims of the year are to revolutionise the club, introducing completely new and fresh promotion and advertising ideas, such as a completely new website design and also a blog, and I know my designing background will be incredibly useful here, so I hope you like what you see in the run up to getting to know more about UPNC! Along with the rest of UPNC's Committee I am so excited to welcome in the new netball year, especially starting with Freshers week, so I hope we have done all we can to attract you into our stall and learning what it's like to be part of the best club on campus!

See you all in freshers week, lots of love G x"

COURTNEY LEWIS

Kit Secretary

"So, I wasn't able to play netball over this past year because I was injured, but I am hoping to play this coming year. My role on the committee is Kit Sec, and this involves initially working with our distributors to design the kit, ordering all dresses after trials so girls get their dresses as soon as possible for matches and ordering all other kit such as hoodies, sweatshirts, t-shirts as many times throughout the year so girls have the opportunity to buy a vast range of kit to suit their every needs. If anyone has any problems with their orders then they can send me a message and I can sort it out for them. Also if anyone has any suggestions for kit that isn’t available then they can come to me and I can see if we can get it on the kit list. I’m hoping to introduce a few more items into the kit orders this year, which involve hand towels and water bottles! Courtney x"

LILY

DEKKER

Varsity Secretary

"Varsity is a fun event for all members of UPNC to involve themselves in. It allows our club to cooperate with other clubs across the uni in one of the most anticipated sporting events of the year. My aim as Varsity Sec is to ensure that this event is beneficial for both the members, and the club funds. I hope to have many successful fundraising events prior to varsity which involve as many members of our club as possible, as well as working with other societies to increase the success of this event. UPNC’s varsity squad work very hard in the build up to the big day, including additional training and the dreaded drinking ban. I aim to encourage additional fitness sessions for the squad with support from a sponsor, as well as designing them a new kit! Lastly, the big Varsity night out is arguably one of the best of the year! I intend on carrying on this tradition by getting our club some super deals and a night out that is loved by all. Cannot wait to get stuck into our new season! Lily x"

MARSHALL

Umpire Secretary

"My name is Emily and I am UPNC's Umpiring Sec for this year. My role is to find and provide great umpires and umpiring for your matches and to encourage you to give it a go too! My aim for this year is to get more of you umpiring by providing plenty of chances for you to participate in all levels of umpiring courses; offering mentoring for those who would like it and by giving people the chance to umpire strong competitive games. Umpiring can earn you some money and improve your gameplay, so why not give it a go this year and I cannot wait to see all and what this year will bring in September! Love Emily x"

LUCY

DAVIES

Health & Safety Secretary

"Hi I'm lucy, a third year medical student and I have loved playing for UPNC over the last two years. This year I will be Health & Safety Sec which involves keeping everyone safe and happy whilst playing netball. Over summer I have created a first aid leaflet which will hopefully advise you and your team about what to do if someone gets injured and if necessary, where to take them. This year I would like to push the welfare side of my role and make myself available if you want to talk confidentially about a problem to a friendly face. This can be netball or non- netball related! I will make myself known at trials and if anyone has any issues please feel free to come talk to me or send me a message!

Big love, Lucy x"
