FAQ'S: FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO JOIN UPNC?
It costs £45 for the whole year; this includes memberhip and insurance. You will need to pay online at http://www.upsu.com/sports/clubs/UPNC/ and make sure you are logged in on the UPSU website with your university login details. Please also come to our stall at Freshers Fair to sign up for Superleague or teams trials! See you there!
WHEN DO YOU TRAIN?
This year, Superleague will train on a Saturday 12-2
1st & 2nd Team on Tuesdays @ 7:30-9:30pm at Lipson Sports Centre
3rd Team on Saturdays @ 9-11am at Nancy Astor
4th & 5th Team on Saturdays @ 9-11am at Nancy Astor
WHAT LEAGUES DO UPNC PLAY IN?
Our top 2 teams play in the BUCS league against other universities and colleges.
Our top 5 teams play in the local PDNL league where they play other local teams.
Our Superleague play in our socIal league; competitively and against one another.
Every week each a Superleague team will take turns in playing the IM league - competing against other societies. Games are on Sundays between 11.30-2.30pm. There will be a schedule given out so you know what time your team is playing.
DO I NEED TO BUY KIT?
For girls that get into teams, it is compulsary that you buy a netball dress to wear throughout the matches. We encourage all girls, including Superleague to buy kit as it keeps the club looking smart and together, representing the name of UPNC
DO I HAVE TO TRIAL?
If you are not looking to play within PDNL or BUCS leagues then do not feel the pressure to have to trial. We have trials for Superleague to sort out those that will be placed into the elite IM teams, but Superleague is run under a no-trials basis
WHAT SOCIALS DO YOU HAVE?
Socials vary from week to week and we have so many different themes and costumes prepared for this up and coming year. We have socials such as our annual Dinner & Dance where we celebrate the successes of the club, handing out awards and looking back at the netball year as a club. WHAT IS VARSITY?
Varsity is where the most elite netballers within the club go head to head with our University rivals; Marjon, in the hope to win the title of VARSITY CHAMPIONS! This is the most anticipated week of the year for the club, and our biggest and toughest match. Check out our Varsity page for more info.
WHO DO I COME TO IF I HAVE ANY ISSUES?
If you have any problems whether it be inside or outside of the club, then do not hesitate to speak to one of our Committee members about them. Our Health & Safety Secretary Lucy will also be on hand to help you whenever you need, and we want to make your time at Plymouth University the most enjoyable it can be.
DOES UPNC GET INVOLVED WITH OTHER CLUBS?
UPNC are known for their contribution towards charity, and we partake in plenty of fundraising activities. We tend to team up with other sports socities within the Univeristy and compete against one another in charity matches. We have previously played Netball against Football, Rugby and Hockey, and that's just to name a few!
DO I HAVE TO HAVE PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE?
No you really dont! Ask some of the girls on Committee! UPNC will provide training and opportunities to help you develop your skills. We cover all areas of ability in the club, so please dont be afraid to come and try Netball out!
